ALLISTON, ONTARIO-A trio of tech-minded Alliston residents are using the power of artificial intelligence to forever change your bedtime routine and put Alliston’s tech sector on the map.

The product, which is still under development, involves a toothbrush moving independently around the human mouth in search of bacteria. The company, headquartered in Alliston, Ontario, is hoping to test prototypes of its product in some of New Tecumseth’s dental offices.

“People keep asking, what’s this thing going to look like?” Glen Sinclair, a dental hygienist-turned-entrepreneur told the Alliston Gerald. “And I tell them: Picture a Roomba but in your mouth.”

Sinclair also noted he was not one hundred percent certain how it would look.

But it was Sinclair’s neighbour and former camp counsellor, Katie White, who thought of the concept and founded Cavity Hacker Inc.

“It was like that apple that hit Isaac Newton on the head,” White told reporters. “But instead of an apple, it was a toothbrush hitting my teeth while I was scrolling on my phone.”

White began to question how and why no one in the twenty-first century had come up with a better way to clean teeth—then it dawned on her that maybe she was that person.

“And Alliston could be the place where it all happens,” she said. “If the area loses Honda Manufacturing, maybe we could pivot to this.”

The devices are slated to hit markets in March of 2031—a revolution White says is only late by about a century.

“Consider the following: You don’t wash your clothes or your dishes by hand anymore. Why are you still washing your teeth with a bristly stick, especially when you could easily relegate that task to a reasonably priced, nearly sentient, data-collecting product?”
