ALLISTON, ONTARIO—Could the current mayor and former deputy mayor really have a Christmas album in the works? While some believe the buzz is only sensationalist nonsense cooked up by bored satirists, others believe Norcross's festive foray into the arts to be imminent and long overdue.

"Oh, I believe it to be true," Sandra Herring, a singing coach at Shooting Star Vocal Academy said. "Have you heard him "ho ho ho" in a parade or sing 'O Canada?’"

While some doubt the quality of any music released by a mayor-turned-holiday-musician, others believe history will tell a different story and that, at Christmas time, often a new star shines in the sky.

"A year from now, people will say he was a local politician who dabbled in Christmas crooning," Harry Hoke, a local archivist, wrote on social media. "But it is my belief that a decade from now, people will say he was a Christmas crooner who dabbled in local politics."

An unnamed custodian is said to have found handwritten lyrics written on the back of an envelope found in the locker room of the town’s new administration building. The note read:

What a bright time, it's the right time
To rock the night away
Jingle bell time is a swell time
For the province to give municipalities their fair share of HST and land transfer tax

Julia Swans, a former head of marketing for Vogue, says her recommendation to anyone attempting to build anticipation for an upcoming release, and especially a Christmas album from the mayor of an Ontario municipality, is "deny, deny, deny."

When questioned about the rumours, Mayor Norcross reportedly said, "I have no idea what any of you are talking about."

Swans says the mayor's resistance to acknowledge he has heard the rumours all while pretending everything is business as usual all but confirms the truth of the rumours.

"That's exactly what we'd expect," Swans told the Alliston Gerald. "It's textbook."
